Software Engineer (Mobile Apps)

You are required to work 37.5 hours a week.

A flexible approach is essential as you may be required to work outside of normal hours to achieve organisational goals.

Purpose of Role/Key Objectives

Naim Audio are starting on an exciting phase of development for the future of our mobile apps, so we're looking for an enthusiastic and skilled Software Engineer who has particular strengths in Apple technologies to help us realise our vision.

As part of a growing software team you would be focused on developing software for mobile, desktop and on-product user interfaces.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

- Expert level iOS developer:

  • Deep understanding of objective C, cocoa touch and other Apple technologies
  • Experience integrating third party libraries
  • Good awareness of available technologies

- Should have some proven skills in other areas of software design, such as:

  • A scripting language such as python
  • Android development
  • Unit testing and automated test techniques
  • Web technologies for user interface design, such as HTML5 or JQuery UI
  • Desktop application development
  • Cross platform strategies for both mobile and desktop applications such as QT
  • Linux application design
  • Working in an Agile team
  • Experience in user interface design or have worked closely with UX and graphic designers
  • Wire-framing and prototyping

- Source control such as Subversion and Git

- Proven track record of shipping reliable quality software

- Good appreciation of how people interact with music data and large collections of music - particularly with reference to music and audio applications.

  • Have a deep and broad knowledge of iOS application development, and the overall Apple ecosystem
  • Have experience and understanding of Android application development
  • Have a broad knowledge of development languages and tools such as Objective-C, Swift, C++, C, Bash, Ruby, Git, Postman and others, and can generally turn your hand to anything
  • Promote quality during development with use of TDD, CI and other automation techniques
  • Are used to collaborating across teams including testers, DevOps and designers
  • Promote lean and agile ideas, but with a pragmatic approach.

Qualification / Experience

  • Experience of delivering high quality software in a commercial environment
  • Have a degree in an engineering or computer science related discipline
  • Are active in the broader software community.
