Graduate Test Engineer

Purpose of Role/Key Objectives

Naim Audio has a passionate in-house R&D team whose common goal is to create world-class Audio products. Our products use the latest audio software technologies to deliver cutting edge audio performance.

As a test engineer within the R&D team based in Salisbury, UK, you will contribute to the development of Naim products by testing product software and target device applications.

Working from initial software specifications you will develop and run test plans for customer acceptance testing.

You will support software releases to the factory and the field, including but not limited to show/distributor/dealer and customer support.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

Working to product specifications, you will:

  • Develop software test plans for the purpose of testing our products, resolving inconsistencies and issues without supervision.
  • Oversee the running and recording of these tests, proving compliance of software to specification.
  • Interface to software and other teams to resolve issues and improve quality.
  • Liaise with production test and service departments to produce coherent product releases in a timely fashion to agreed deadlines.
  • Progress software releases through the new product introduction process to ensure released software meets reliability requirements.
  • Assist production with daily production requirements and with software releases.
  • Work with technical support and sales teams with software queries and training with the products that are current and new in the streaming range. 
  • Plan software development and regression test times and feed back to manager.
  • Identify required improvements in the test processes; make contributions to our automation tools that address specific needs.

Skills & Requirements

Experience:

  • Ability to do basic fault finding using oscilloscope and multimeter would be an advantage.
  • Networking and serial debugging knowledge would be beneficial.
  • Audio industry - recent active employment/internship in that field would be an advantage.

 

    Qualification / Experience

    Education:

    • Degree qualified ideally in an engineering discipline.

    Skills:

    • Well organised and able to work to tight deadlines – good time management;
    • Flexible and proactive in approach to the role –positive attitude essential;
    • Ability to work on own initiative and pickup things quickly;
    • Excellent communication skills;
    • Great team player;
    • Problem solving and analytical skills to identify the root cause and resolve performance blockages;
    • PC literate and numerate - Microsoft and Windows applications.
