Training and Merchandising Executive

Purpose of Role/Key Objectives

The UK Training and Merchandising Exec is primarily responsible for supporting the UK national retailers to optimise the sales of Naim & Focal products. This includes the on-going training and development of retailers & staff to ensure they are knowledgeable, confident and possess the technical skills to demonstrate Naim & Focal products. In addition the role will have the responsibility of installing, maintaining and updating in store point of sale and demo units. 


Main Duties and Responsibilities


  • To represent both Naim and Focal in store, building relationships and driving awareness
  • To inform and impart knowledge of Naim & Focal’s range of products, ethos, philosophy and company objectives at a store level.
  • To act as the interface between retailer/end users and Naim/Focal:
    • Current market trends within the hi-fi and home entertainment markets.
    • Competitor activity.
    • How new product introductions are being received by dealers and the end-users.
    • Seasonal activity – eg: feedback on sales over the Christmas period.
    • General market information.


·         To ensure the store colleagues are knowledgeable and confident with the technical skills to demonstrate Naim & Focal mass market products.

·         To build advocates in store


·         To ensure Naim and Focal products are merchandised appropriately in store – including digital point of sale units, static units, posters, window displays and other opportunities where applicable.

Planning and Organisation

·         To plan and structure call visits in line with Naim and Focal’s objectives – targets to conduct between 4 and 5 store visits per day

·         To report back weekly on activity and effectiveness

Promotional Activities:

  • To represent Naim in key stores during peak trading times – engaging with staff and customers
  • Supporting the UK Account Managers with local activities to promote Naim Audio via marketing, music evenings, shows, presentations etc.
  • To attend UK and selected export trade shows, ensuring Naim’s full product range is demonstrated to best effect.


  • Working with colleagues to ensure a smooth operation in all activities
  • Play an active role in the regular Sales Team meetings, which involve discussion of products, competitors, market trends etc….
  • Support sales team to successfully achieve all objectives
  • All employees have a responsibility for quality and must check the quality of the work they perform.

Skills & Requirements

The job holder should possess a keen interest of the hi-fi/audio or consumer electronics and have an awareness of the impact of ‘new technologies’ in the market place.  He/she should possess excellent presentation and interpersonal skills and should be a good communicator and an excellent listener.  An enthusiastic, persuasive personality is required along with self motivation and a desire to be successful. Full clean driving licence, flexibility to travel and possession of a passport are essential.

·         Proven ability to build strong relationships and represent premium brands




Qualification / Experience

  • Maths and English to G.C.S.E Grade C or equivalent
