'Jazz Album of the Year' Vote Now
As the year draws to a close there’s no sign of retreat for Yazz Ahmed. With a sell-out show during the London Jazz Festival at King’s Place, various international live dates, and featuring at number 18 in Bandcamp’s 'top albums of 2017’ under her belt, here is a look at what to expect from the trumpeter in the New Year.
Her critically acclaimed album, La Saboteuse has been nominated in Gilles Peterson’s Worldwide Awards 2018 for ‘Jazz Album of the Year’. In an exciting and vibrant jazz scene, La Saboteuse finds itself in some great company with the likes of Kamasi Washington and Binker & Moses also in the running for the accolade. This award category is a public vote so please hit the link to show your support for this incredible young artist.
Giles has also shown his allegiances to Yazz’s work by inviting her to perform at the opening night of the New York Winter Jazz Festival, on 10th of January at Le Poisson Rouge for BBC Introducing. The gig, which is to be broadcast by the BBC on 6 Music will feature an all new British Jazz Showcase hosted by Gilles Peterson so be sure to tune in.
