NaimUniti 2: an evolution in performance

NaimUniti was revitalised and relaunched as NaimUniti 2 in 2012. With a new 70W integrated amplifier (NaimUniti 50W) the NaimUniti 2 can accommodate a wider range of loudspeakers and fill even larger rooms with world class sound. It also a boasts an entirely new CD player section, with improved tray, clamping mechanism and the new Burr Brown PCM1793 DAC.

Several small improvements to the design and signal path, developed through intensive listening tests, combine to raise the overall performance levels of NaimUniti 2 still further. It has also inherited the larger front panel display window of its big brother the SuperUniti.

NaimUniti 2 has an analogue heart. Its NAIT 5i-derived integrated amplifier beats true to our long established design philosophies and is the foundation of the NaimUniti's audio quality.

But in parallel with audio quality, it is the immense digital versatility of NaimUniti 2 that sets it apart from any other all-in-one audio product. Its comprehensive coverage of audio bases includes audio formats as well as audio sources. So along with Red Book CD audio, FM and DAB radio, and internet radio streams at multiple bit rates, NaimUniti 2 can play audio files in MP3, Windows Media-formatted content, AAC, Apple Lossless, FLAC and WAV formats. And thanks to an internal DAC with its five 32bit/192kHz-capable S/PDIF inputs, external digital audio sources, such as satellite TVs or games consoles, are a breeze for NaimUniti 2.

Analogue audio connectivity is not forgotten either. Five analogue inputs can accommodate CD players or portable music players via rear panel phono sockets, a DIN phone input and a front-panel mini-jack. And a preamplifier output means that with the addition of an external power amplifier, or even a subwoofer, NaimUniti 2 can become the heart of a very wide bandwidth audio system. And when you want to listen privately, a front panel headphone socket makes such selfishness all too easy.

So as well as offering all-in-one functionality, NaimUniti 2 is the perfect audio hub.

More music than ever at your fingertips

Versatility is, however, of little use without accessibility. The coherent and intuitive user interface makes using and navigating around each of its audio sources child's play. NaimUniti 2 finds DAB or internet radio stations without prompting; it connects to networks and discovers UPnP server shared audio files automatically, and it presents everything through a large front panel display that is the model of clarity. Every CD track, audio file, stream or source is literally just a couple of button presses away. NaimUniti 2 is Apple authenticated and works seamlessly with iPod, iPhone and iPad devices. Simply connect an iPod, iPhone or iPad to the front-panel USB input, using a standard Apple connector, and NaimUniti takes over control, displays content, and charges the battery. The USB audio connection is digital too so sound quality is optimised. Naim's n-Stream control app for iPad, iPhone and iPod Touch enhances the NaimUniti 2 experience still further.

Install a NaimUniti 2 in your home and a whole world of multi-room audio opportunities opens up. With a UPnP-enabled music server, such as Naim's UnitiServe, a wireless network router and a NaimUniti 2 you have a very high performance hi-fi system with access to almost limitless music. Add a UnitiQute and/or a SuperUniti and UnitiServe and you have a multi-room hi-fi system that installs effortlessly, is easily modified and sounds outstanding.
