When formatting an external Store or Back-up drive what file format should I choose?
When preparing an external drive for use with your Naim system -whether for music storage or backup- it’s important to choose a compatible file format.
Naim recommends using NTFS for Windows users and exFAT for cross-platform compatibility (Windows and macOS).
These formats support large file sizes and are widely recognized by Naim devices. Avoid using macOS-specific formats like HFS+ or APFS, as they may not be supported.
Before formatting, ensure you back up any existing data on the drive. Once formatted, connect the drive to your Naim device, and it will automatically detect and index the content.
