Favourites & Presets FAQ

Naim products offer powerful tools to personalize your listening experience through Favourites and Presets. Whether you're using a Uniti system, a New Classic Series streamer, or a Mu-so, this guide answers the most common questions about how to use and manage these features.

1. What’s the Difference Between Favourites and Presets?

Feature

Description

Favourites

Items you manually mark for quick access in the Focal & Naim App.

Presets

Saved shortcuts to iRadio stations, albums or playlists, accessible via the app or front panel (for Mu-so 2nd generation, only iRadio stations and Spotify playlists may be saved as presets)

2. What Can Be Favourited?

You can favourite a wide range of content directly from the Focal & Naim App:

  • Internet radio stations
  • Albums and tracks from streaming services (TIDAL & Qobuz)
  • Playlists (TIDAL, Qobuz and Spotify)
  • UPnP content
  • USB-stored music

3. How Do I Add a Favourite?

  1. Open the Focal &Naim App.
  2. Navigate to the content you want to favourite.
  3. Tap the three dots icon  next to the item and select ‘add to favourites’.

The item will now appear in your Favourites section for quick access.

4. What Are Presets and How Do I Use Them?

Presets are designed for quick access to your most-used content, especially from the device’s front panel or remote.

You can assign presets to:

  • Internet radio stations
  • Playlists (on Mu-so 2nd Generation, only Spotify playlists can be added as a preset)
  • Albums or tracks from streaming services (not possible with Mu-so 2nd Generation)

5. How Do I Set a Preset?

  1. In the Focal & Naim App, play the content you want to assign.
  2. Tap the three-dot menu (⋮).
  3. Tap ‘add to favourites’, you will then be given the option to add as a preset.
  4. For Mu-so and Qb 2nd Generation, you can only have 5 presets, which are accessible from the volume control user interface on the products itself, as well as from the Focal & Naim app.

You can now access this preset directly from the device’s front panel or remote.

6. Can I Edit or Remove Presets?

Yes. To change or remove a preset:

  • Go to the Presets section in the Focal & Naim App.
  • Tap and hold the preset you want to edit.
  • Choose to replace or delete it.

7. Are Presets and Favourites Synced Across Devices?

Presets are stored on the device, while Favourites are stored in the app and linked to your streaming accounts. This means:

  • Presets stay with the device, even if the app is reinstalled.
  • Favourites are user-specific and may not appear on another user’s app. They are available on the Naim streaming product independently of the Focal & Naim app, however logging out of your streaming accounts will remove them from the product, until logged back into via the app.

8. Do Presets Work Without the App?

Yes. Once assigned, presets can be accessed directly from:

  • The front panel of your Naim device
  • The remote control
  • The Focal & Naim App

This makes them ideal for quick access without needing your phone or tablet.

Conclusion

Favourites and Presets are simple yet powerful tools to personalize your Naim experience. Whether you're curating a list of go-to albums or setting up one-touch access to your favorite radio stations, these features help you get to the music you love faster.
