Powering on/off your Naim server

Naim music servers are designed to operate reliably and efficiently as part of your hi-fi system. Whether you're setting up your server for the first time or need to power it down for maintenance, this guide explains the correct procedures for switching your Naim server on and off.

Powering On Your Naim Server

To switch on your Naim server:

  1. Connect the power cable to the rear of the unit and plug it into a mains socket.
  2. Press the front panel button once.

The LED will illuminate, and the server will begin its startup sequence.

✓ Once powered on, the server will automatically connect to your network (if previously configured) and begin indexing any connected storage devices.

Powering Off Your Naim Server

To safely switch off your Naim server:

  1. Press and hold the front panel button until the LED turns off. This initiates a controlled shutdown of the server.
  2. Disconnect the power cable if you need to fully power down the unit or move it.

Avoid unplugging the server without using the front panel button first, as this may interrupt file indexing or cause data loss.

Final Tips

  • Leave your server on during normal use to allow continuous indexing and remote access.
  • Use standby mode if supported, to reduce power consumption while keeping the server responsive.
